Buy a new PC with Windows Vista, and receive a comparable version of Windows 7 when available.
Microsoft has announced a free upgrade to Windows 7 when an eligible version of Windows Vista is purchased, between June 26 2009 and January 31 2010. This covers all versions of Windows Vista excluding Vista Home Basic, and Vista Academic. All versions of Windows XP are not covered under the Windows 7 upgrade offer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Windows Visa-based PC running Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Business, or Windows Vista Ultimate during the offer period will be eligible to receive a comparable upgrade version of Windows 7 when available.
Customers who purchase Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, or Windows Vista Ultimate retail packaged software from a participating retailer during the offer period will be eligible to receive a comparable upgrade version of Windows 7 when available.

HP is pleased to announce that we will offer the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system on consumer and business PCs beginning 22 October 2009. To meet customers' computing needs while protecting their investments, HP is participating in the Windows Upgrade Option Program to help customers transition easily to Windows 7. The program will enable customers who purchase qualifying HP PCs to enjoy the benefits of a new Windows-based PC immediately and receive a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it becomes available in October. Customers who purchase an HP PC from 26 June 2009 may be eligible for the upgrade program.
